THE FIRST RUNNING OF THE
SANTAS was held on December 23, 1998. 40+ Santas arrived at
Pitcher's Pub in Manayunk donned in red and white and pub crawled
up and down Main Street.
In 2002 The Running of the Santas relocated to South Street,
Philadelphia and in 2006 relocated to Northern Liberties in
Philadelphia.

In 2006, a record 3,000
Santas participated in Philadelphia and Key West kicked off
their first Running of the Santas.
In 2007, the "Run" extended to Chicago,
Denver, Indianapolis, Louisville, Nashville, Washington DC,
Boston, San Diego, and Pittsburgh, Minneapolis and many more
would follow.
In 2009, The Electric Factory in Philadelphia hosted the North
Pole festival for the first time and a record 23.5 inches of
snow fell that day causing a state of emergency to the city.
All public transit and streets were shut down....but thousands
still found their way there.
